Catalogue Note

Although the form of this tureen is of a type found in mid-18th century English porcelain, the white bone china body sugggests an early 19th century date and a tentative attribution to perhaps Spode or Minton.

An almost identical tureen, but set with a leafy stalk handle, sold, Sotheby's, New York, the Collection of Dorothy Hirshon, September 26, 1998, lot 280.
