Catalogue Note

Influenced by the fauvist palette of Matisse, Ballard has been consistently interested in the rich contrasting colours and textures found in everyday objects and he has become well known for his treatment of still lifes.  Born in Belfast, Ballard studied at the Belfast College of Art then the Liverpool College of Art and has had several solo exhibitions including those at the Tom Caldwell Gallery, Belfast; The Grafton Gallery, Dublin; Cadogan Contemporary, London and The Kerlin Gallery, Dublin.
