a group of 9 photographs, including 'Reagan on TV,' signed, titled, dated, numbered 'API,' annotated, and copyrighted by the photographer on the reverse, matted, framed, 1972, printed circa 1977, API in an edition of 40; and the complete group of 8 plates from Bill Owens Portfolio 1977 (San Francisco: Berggruen, 1977, a projected edition of 25), each flush-mounted, signed and titled by the photographer in ink in the margin, the portfolio, copyright, and reproduction rights stamps on the reverse, numbered sequentially and '2/25' by the photographer in ink on the reverse, accompanied by the letterpress captions; each overmatted, framed, a Foster Goldstrom Fine Arts label on the reverse, circa 1972-77, printed in 1977, no. 2 in a projected edition of 25 (Mirrors and Windows, p. 121) (9)

Catalogue Note

The photographs in Bill Owens Portfolio, 1977 consist of images from three of the photographer's books, Suburbia; Working: I Do It for the Money; and Our Kind of People.  While the edition was to have been 25, it is believed that no more than 10 complete portfolios were actually printed.
