Catalogue Note
The composition is known in several versions, ascribed to both Joan de Joanes and Vicente Macip. A closely related version, with only slight differences in the landscape background, was recorded in the Pomares Collection, Alicante (see J. Albi, Joan de Joanes y su círculo artístico, Valencia 1979, vol. II, pp. 241-2, reproduced, vol. III, plate CCVII).
