Rokeby Hall, Yorkshire, probably by 1769 (see Literature) when the house was sold by Sir Thomas Robinson (c.1702-1777) to John Sawrey Morritt (1738-1791);
Thence by descent until 2003.

Possibly A. Young, Six Months Tour of the North East, 1771, vol. II, p. 184 (as hanging in the Yellow Bed-Chamber, `Jupiter and Danae. Very fine and expressive').
