Follower of Joan Macip, called Joan de Joanes

The composition was repeated on numerous occasions by Joan de Joanes.  The present work is a contemporary copy after Joanes' original in the Budapest Museum (see J. Albi, Joan de Joanes, vol. II, Valencia 1979, pp. 138-9, reproduced vol. III, plate CLXXXI).  The prime version of this subject is believed to be that in Museo de Valencia (see J. Albi, op. cit, vol. II, pp. 132-4, reproduced vol. III, plate CXLVII).
