Catalogue Note

Pereira was active in Lisbon from around 1630 and his style and subject matter reflect the influence of François de Nomé, called Monsù Desiderio, who worked in Naples.  This painting can be compared to other works by Pereira (see Rosso e Oro, Tesori d'arte del barocco portoghese, exhibition catalogue, Rome 2002, pp. 126-137).
