Catalogue Note
This painting entered the collection at Fillongley Hall, Warwickshire, in 1843. The Adderly family, later the Lords Norton, acquired the house in 1823 whereupon it was rebuilt to a design by the London architect George Woolcott. After further enlargement in the 1840s much of the furniture and works of art were acquired, including this painting, from J.M. & S.M. Smith, London.
