Paul de Vos Hulst 1591/2 or 1595 - 1678 Antwerp

At least two other variants of this composition by De Vos are known: one listed as in the collection of Count Constantin de Bousies, Brussels (Witt Library mount); the other, measuring 118 by 185 cm., was included in the Van Tilt sale, Brussels, Palais des Beaux-Arts, 29 April 1935, lot 87. All three versions display numerous differences, principally to the disposition of the landscape, and the present work also includes a greater number of hounds emerging on both flanks of the composition.
