Gaspare Diziani Belluno 1689 - 1767 Venice

This is almost certainly a bozzetto for Diziani's altarpiece of 1735-40 in the Duomo at Tolmezzo (fig. 1; reproduced in A. Zugni-Tauro, Gaspare Diziani, Venice 1971, p. 85, reproduced fig. 32). The Tolmezzo altarpiece follows the design of the sketch very closely, but with differences in the disposition of angels and the omission of the bible in the lower left corner.
