Catalogue Note
It is in Würzburg, where Domenico and his father were commissioned to decorate the Episcopal Palace from 1750 to 1753, that the Idée Pittoresche Sopra La Fugga in Egitto was etched. When published in 1753, all the plates were numbered, although there are very rare proof impressions before numbers. For a compilation of revised states of this set, see Italian Prints of the Eighteenth Century, Cat. No. 11, 1981, David Tunick Inc.
