Etching, before 1632, the second state (of six), M.-H.'s second state (of seven), a fine impression of this rare state, before all letters, printing with tone and fine vertical wiping scratches and burr on drypoint strokes below, on paper with a Strasbourg Lily watermark (Mauquoy-Hendrickx 158), trimmed on the platemark below, and between platemark and borderline elsewhere, two small plugged holes in background at centre, several small rubbed (?) spots, light paper discoloration, otherwise in good condition

Catalogue Note

Mauquoy-Hendrickx records only three impressions of the first state (Ashmolean, Fitzwilliam and BN, Paris). There is another impression of the first state at the British Museum and one, the Lankrink impression, sold Sotheby Parke Bernet, February, 1979.

With an old inscription in brown ink (probably contemporary) in the blank space below: 'Hans Breugel' .
