Sir Francis Seymour Haden (1818-1910) was a surgeon, an amateur etcher, Whistler's brother-in-law and a great connoisseur of Rembrandt etchings. He wrote the catalogue of the celebrated Burlington Fine Arts Club exhibition in 1877 and lent many of his finest impressions. Lugt praises Seymour Haden for his exceptional eye for quality.
