Catalogue Note
Carpenter states in Jim Dine Prints 1985-2000 A Catalogue Raisonné, The Minneapolis Institude of Arts, 2002, p.16, that Dine 'reconfigured motifs from earlier prints to create an amalgam of history and philosophy... The idea of duality within a single unit carries through all the panels' she goes on to state that the work 'offers visions of the cycle of life the timeless, endless ways in which desire and strength ebb and flow'
