Catalogue Note

Lehrs lists only six impressions of this rare work, all in public collections. The dress and bearing of the figure clearly defines her as a member of the aristocracy. This design was probably intended as a model for general heraldic use and, with few variations, is closely linked to the design for the gravestone of Magdalena Ebenstetter (1488) at the church at Gars am Inn in Bavaria. Holm Bevers, Meister E.S., Ein Oberrheinischer Kupferstecher der Spätgotik, (München, 187), 102.
