Catalogue Note
This drawing came from the large group of Volterrano drawings sold at Sotheby's, London in 1980, catalogued by Charles McCorquodale. The recto may be a study for a St. Catherine. The figure of the old man and a baby on the verso could be related to a Simeon with the Infant Christ mentioned by Baldinucci (V, 1847, p. 175). The drawing is a fairly late work.
