Catalogue Note

These heads are close to those of two figures in a fresco by Poccetti, The Martyrdom of Saint Peter.  This was commissioned for the cloister of SS. Annunziata, Florence, and, now detached, is in the Gallerie Fiorentine, Florence, on deposit at the Villa Corsini, Castello (see Il Seicento Fiorentino: Arte a Firenze da Ferdinando I a Cosimo III, exhibition catalogue, Florence 1986-87, cat. no. 1.9, pp. 96-97).
