Catalogue Note
The first two drawings in this lot are now recognizable as characteristic works by Molinari and can be compared with the large group of drawings by the artist in Düsseldorf (see Richard C. Green, 'Molinari Drawings in Düsseldorf', Master Drawings, vol. 22, no. 2, 1984, p. 194ff.). Their previous attribution to Pellegrini was due to comparison with drawings mistakenly attributed to that artist in the catalogue of an exhibition at the Cini Foundation in 1959. The third drawing is less typical and may perhaps be by another hand, possibly a Neapolitan artist.
