Catalogue Note
The old attribution to Paggi is most helpful and revealing. The facial types are his, but there are strong Florentine characteristics in the drawing. As Paggi lived in Florence for almost twenty years and worked with artists such as Cigoli, this drawing is an extremely interesting testimony to that experience.
