Catalogue Note
This very free drawing, which could at first sight seem an invention, is in fact an accurate rendition of the city of Verona, including among other monuments, the church of S. Anastasia to the left and the famous bridge to the right. Dr. Gerszi (op.cit.) writes of Toeput's association with Hoefnagel and his project of recording towns for the Civitates Orbis Terrarum published by Braun and Hogenberg, but includes this drawing among Toeput's own cityscapes.
