- two states yachts in calm waters, with smaller vessels to the left and a barge in the foreground
inscribed in brown ink, verso, partly obscured: ..8 den 25 nog de vloet van meningh moergens ... /.. er Smonierdijck (?) te Sien
- bears initials in brown ink on seperate piece of paper, attached to the verso: W.V J
point of the brush and grey wash with touches of pen and brown ink, over black chalk, within black chalk framing lines

According to the present owner, Michael Robinson suggested that this might be a sketch by van de Velde, subsequently worked up by Charles Gore.
