Catalogue Note

Van Uden's drawn oeuvre includes some of the most poetic and atmospheric Flemish landscape drawings of their time. Many of these are more open and panoramic in composition than the present example, but another rather similar drawing of a hunting party in a densely wooded landscape is in the Kunsthalle, Hamburg (inv. 22595).
