Catalogue Note

The present drawing, depicting the Roman Campagna, was most likely executed during one of several trips to Rome in the 1650s. It belongs to a series of works by the artist which were copied in 1675 by Jacob van der Ulft into a sketchbook, now in the Institut Néerlandais, Paris.
