Catalogue Note
Richard Griffiths produced the earliest geological map of Ireland, the wall-map first published in 1839, although a reduced version of it was included in the Irish Railway Commission Atlas of the previous year. Its topographical detail was was sufficiently good for the Ordnance Survey to reissue it, coloured to distinguish the counties.
