Inserted in Bell's Account of the Family of Radclyffe is an envelope containing 11 watercolour drawings of the apostles (each 160 x 110mm.). Enclosed documentation states that they were painted by James Radclyffe, Third Earl of Derwentwater, who was executed at the Tower of London in 1716 for his participation in the Jacobite Rebellion of 1715. The watermarks on the paper are consistent with this date though it is not possible to veryify the claim.
