This work was edited and published posthumously by Samuel Pufendorf, Laurenberg having died in 1658. Laurenberg himself was a noted philologist, mathematician, classicist, poet and above all, cartographer. He contributed maps for the atlases issued by the Hondius and Blaeu firms in Amsterdam. The present work on ancient Greece assigns a map for each region described.
