Catalogue Note

rare (only one copy of the first edition recorded on ABPC - the Burrell copy which lacked the half-title). Rooke was on one of the ships of the British Fleet that sailed in 1781 in an abortive attempt to capture the Cape of Good Hope from the Dutch and French. He gives descriptions of Mocha, Jeddah and Cairo.
