4to (282 x 225mm.), 97 mounted photographs, most captioned on the mount in ink, contemporary embossed green morocco gilt, flat spine, occasional light spotting, binding rather rubbed; 4to (315 x 240mm.), 28 mounted photographs, nineteenth-century pictorial cloth gilt, some spotting, a few leaves detached or becoming so, binding worn (2)

Catalogue Note

a fine collection of 1870s photographs of sydney. The first album contains 67 photographs (53 full-page and 15 on 3 sheets) of Sydney, including a 360 degree panorama of Sydney from "the tower of the new Town Hall" in 10 photographs, notable buildings and local views, 18 of Ceylon (on 9 sheets) and 11 full-page photographs of scenes in England. The second album contains 28 fine photographs in and around Sydney.
