rare. a foundation work for the history of croatia and the balkans. Ivan Lucic (b. Trojir (Dalmatia), 1604 - d. Rome,1679), is credited with being the founder of modern Croatian historiography, due to this volume, his major work. Lucic appended to his work Marulic's Latin translation of the twelfth-century Chronicle of the Priest of Dioclea (Ljetopis' Popa Dukljanina), the oldest Croatian history, which preserves unique information on the early history of the Southern Slavs.
