3 volumes (volumes I-III), folio (538 x 350mm.), engraved title vignettes, volume 1 with portrait of James Stuart (dated 1789, usually found in volume 2), head- and tail-pieces, 230 etched or engraved plates, maps and plans (vol.1: 71, vol.2: 73, vol.3: 86), several double-page or folding, the double-page map of Greece and Asia Minor hand-coloured in outline, errata leaf at end of volume 3, uniformly bound in late eighteenth-century diced russia gilt, sides with elaborate greek-key and roll tooled borders, spines in compartments gilt, gilt edges, plate with clean tear (vol.1, chapter 5, 3) without loss, folding map of Greece torn at one fold, joints split or splitting (covers becoming detached), one spine end slightly worn, somewhat rubbed
