Literature
Avanzi delle Antichita: Cigonara 2692 (citing the date 1778, but probably a misreading); RIBA 2423; Berlin Kat. 1895; Views of Paestum: Blackmer 1154; Cigonara 2685
Catalogue Note
Plate [I] of the first work is a frontispiece consisting of an oval plaque bearing the title 'Antichita di Pozzuoli Puteolanae Antiquitates', and this work is sometimes catalogued under this title. The date comes from the final engraved text plate.
The second work contains rare plates engraved after designs by Antonio Jolli, which are the second published illustrations of the temples at Paestum (the first being those in Dumont's Suite de plans, Paris, 1764). The dedication by Morghen to Frederick Calvert, Lord Baltimore, appears at the foot of plate 1 as does the date (25 Feb. 1765). The Blackmer and British Library copies both contain 6 plates, however there are 4 additional plates in the set present here, but no title or additional text.
