The flowerhead set in the center with a round sapphire weighing approximately 2.45 carats, the petals pavé-set with 100 round and single-cut diamonds weighing approximately 7.00 carats, mounted in platinum, signed Cartier, inscribed: F.D.F. Xmas 1937.

Catalogue Note

Childs Frick was the son of Henry Clay Frick, the well-known 19th century industrialist and art collector. He gave the present sapphire and diamond brooch to his wife, Francis Dixon Frick, as a Christmas gift in 1937. The brooch has remained in the family ever since and is being consigned by a direct descendent.
