Ruby and emerald bead and diamond tassel-necklace, Van Cleef & Arpels, New York, circa 1970

The necklace composed of segments of ruby beads held within gold and diamond caps, spaced by fluted emerald beads and diamond rondelles, the center decorated with a lozenge-shaped segment centering a ruby bead framed by round diamonds and rubies, supporting a ruby bead tassel surmounted by emerald and ruby beads, the whole set with 664 round diamonds weighing approximately 30.75 carats and 14 round rubies weighing approximately 4.50 carats, the 8 emerald beads weighing approximately 157.00 carats, mounted in 18  karat gold, length 21½ inches, tassel detaches to be worn as a brooch, signed V.C.A., numbered NY 39449.
