18 Karat Gold, Diamond and Colored Stone Bird of Paradise Brooch, Marchak, Paris, circa 1950

The exotic bird decorated on the back with numerous round diamonds, one side also accented with a cluster of  cabochon rubies, the head set with a large cabochon ruby partly framed by cabochon emeralds and 2 round cabochon sapphire eyes, the tail supporting gold chain fringes anchored by small round sapphires, rubies, emeralds and diamonds, the branch further set with a pear-shaped diamond, the total diamond weight approximately 4.90 carats, signed Marchak, Paris, maker's mark, French assay marks.
