  • A GOLD AND ROYAL BLUE ENAMEL HINGED BANGLE, WORKMASTER SAMUEL ARND (1845-1890), ST. PETERSBURG, CIRCA 1860
set to the front with a detachable shell centring a cherub on a swing, the bangle with applied gold decoration of stylised floral and foliate design, the interior inscribed 'Souvenir de LM, L Imperatrice Alexandra Feodrovna November 1860' with workmasters initials

Catalogue Note

Alexandra Feodrovna was born Princess Charlotte of Prussia and took this Russian Orthodox name when she married Grand Duke Nicholas Pavlovich in 1817 (later Tsar Nicholas I, 1825-1855).  When this was dedicated she had been a widow for five years.
