Description
- 6.1 to 7cm., 2 3/8 and 2 3/4 in.
of rounded square form, inlaid in copper, gold and shibuichi with an owl perched on a plum tree, signed Toshinaga no zu Iwamoto Konkan and kao; two other Nara school rounded square tsuba, of brass and iron respectively, each inlaid with a moored boat; a mokko Mino Goto tsuba, of shakudo nanako inlaid with chidori and Autumn flowers; and a brass marubori tsuba carved with an eagle and sparrows, signed Toshimasa saku
Literature
The signature on the First tsuba is consistent with that reproduced in Wakayama, vol.1, p.82. It is comparable to the signature illustrated on the lower right, also found on an early work by the artist.
