`Kanagawa oki nami-ura' (the hallow of the great wave off Kanagawa) from the series `Fugaku Sanjurokkei' (the thirty-six views of Mt. Fuji)
oban, 25 by 37.2cm., 9 13/16 by 14 3/4 in.

depicting a seacape as Fuji is glimpsed through the trough of a great wave that is breaking through in jagged foam over three boats, signed Hokusai aratame Iitsu hitsu
