The Goddess standing on the back of her vahana the lion, balancing a child on her left hip while another child stands to her right. She holds a stalk of mangoes in her pendent right hand and a goad and a noose in her upper right and left hands. A seated Jina, representing Neminatha, is carved above the Goddess's crown, with sprays of mangoes on either side.
Catalogue Note
Ambika is worshipped on behalf of mothers and infants and the inclusion of mangoes in the iconography is an obvious reference to the principle of fertility which was popular in Indic art.
