Avinash Chandra (1931-1991)

This work dates to circa 1961 and was painted in London, 'at a time when Avinash's heart yearned for the hills where he was born. The inclement winter weather of the 60's turned his thoughts to childhood and happy days in Simla with its architectural spires echoing the tall pine trees precariously clinging to the slopes. He liked to work at nights alone with his thoughts and the likes of Miles Davies soflty whispering mellow jazz in his north London studio and of course the ever present glass of good "Scottish waters."'
