Catalogue Note
Gandhi is the only historical figure portrayed by Padamsee in his paintings. All his other heads are of imaginary characters. A hallmark of Padamsee’s works is the exploratory nature of both line and color. The limpid layers of color seem to coalesce together and create the image almost of their own volition with the residual spaces playing an equally important role in the formation of the image.
