Catalogue Note

Born in 1912 in La Coruña, Granell was a painter of international prestige and an important figure of the surrealist movement as well as a talented musician, writer and sculptor. His meeting with Marcel Duchamp in New York in 1952 marked the beginning of a close friendship and a professional relationship involving exchange of ideas, works and texts.

His work is kept in the leading art museums in the world like the Museum of Modern Art in New York and Centro de Arte Reina Sophia in Madrid.
