Catalogue Note

Sonia's husband Robert Delaunay died in October 1941 in the South of France; shortly after she moved to Grasse, where she stayed, in the company of Hans and Sophie Tauber-Arp and Alberto Mangelli, until after the war ended.  Her preoccupations were the memorialization, through exhibitions, of her late husband's career, and a struggle to make ends meet, which she achieved by selling her household possessions and her husband's paintings when she could.
