Catalogue Note

This design illustrated a scene from the Théâtre de Verdure situated on the Cap d'Ail which was directed by Cocteau's friend Jean Moreau. A similar design which is recorded as no. 136 in the Catalogue raisonné des céramiques de Jean Cocteau by Annie Guedras was exceuted in an edition of 40.
