three-quarter plate nickel lever movement (Calibre 98240 Jones) with special engravings, 22 jewels, glucydur balance with compensation screws, Nivarox 1 balance spring with a Breguet overcoil, elongated precision adjustment index, matte silvered dial with Roman and Arabic numerals, outer minute track, blued steel hands, two subsidiary dials; one for hour indication at 12 and small seconds at 6, brushed circular water-resistant type case with stepped bezel and down-turned lugs, sapphire crystal display case back secured by 6 screws, case, dial and movement signed IWC, dial further signed Wempe, with a stainless steel IWC buckle.    

Catalogue Note

The Jones calibre was developed by the founder of IWC, F.A. Jones and was originally designed for pocket watches. One of the main features of the movement is the elongated index, known as the “Jones Arrow”, which extends from the balance wheel cock to the three-quarter plate.

This watch was produced in a limited series of 100 pieces.  The current example is number 23 and it is the first time this watch has appeared at auction.
