Catalogue Note

It is interesting to note that reference 2525-1 is exactly the same case design as the more famous reference 2551 automatic wristwatch. However, the 2525-1 is considerably slimmer than the latter since it does not have to incorporate the automatic rotor work. Only around a dozen reference 2525-1 references are known from the market, compared to over 70 of the reference 2551.

Production of reference 2525-1 began in 1952 and ceased around 1962. In 1956 the retail price was CHF 1,445. Whilst over 500 examples in yellow gold were made, just over 30 reference 2525 and 2525/1 are known from the market. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first time this example has appeared at auction.
