one depicting Chirone and Achilles, the other with a centaur teaching Achilles to play the lyre

Catalogue Note

The present pair of panels are inspired by the famous Roman frescoes from the Basilica of Ercolano which were excavated in 1739 and were housed in Bosco Reale.
