Description

  • 91.5cm high, 130.5cm wide, 62.1cm deep; 3ft., 4ft. 3¼in., 2ft. ½in.
with a brèche d'Alep marble top, above a frieze drawer inlaid with lunettes flanked by a pierced mount with oak leaves, with two drawers centerd by a roundel depicting buildings in a landscape flanked by two doors, on turned tapering legs terminating in toupie feet, the whole inlaid with trellis parquetry 

Provenance

By repute the Comte de Paris, Quinta do Anjinho, Sintra and
purchased by the present owner’s father from the sale of the Comte de Paris in Sintra in 1951.

Catalogue Note

Fidelis Schey received Master 1777

A very similar commode stamped Schey of identical form with the lunette inlaid frieze, central roundel depicting a landscape on a trelliswork ground with identical corner and handle mounts and escutcheons and the same gilt-bronze panelling sold Renard & Fils, Beaulieu sur Mer, 2003.
