Catalogue Note

A likely attribution for the present lot  would seem to be the celebrated neo-classical architect, James Wyatt. The distinctive trellis decoration relates to a suite of furniture including a pair of side cabinets known to have been designed by him for Heveningham Hall, Suffolk, and which are now on view at Heaton Hall, near Manchester. The finely detailed frieze on the offered lot would further tend to support a Wyatt attribution as it is similar to those seen on several pier tables also designed for Heveningham.
