Catalogue Note

A very similar design for a side cabinet in the Louis XVI taste was published by Gillow in March 1867 and is recorded in the Estimate Sketch books, preserved in the Westmister City archives, roll 344/108, folio 7237.  The present cabinet was undoubtedly made between 1871 and 1872 according to the numbering system used by Gillows.
