with a replaced inset leather top above three drawers and dummy drawers

Catalogue Note

The form of this elegant writing table with eared corners and reeded legs relate it to various designs by the renowned firm of Gillows. A library table and a writing table dating to circa 1790 appear in the Estimate Sketch Books and are reproduced in L. Boynton, Gillow Furniture Designs, 1760-1800, 1995, fig. 21 and 35.  A very similar writing table was sold by The Marquess of Cholmondeley, Christie's, London, 24 November 2005, lot 36.
